Face to Face With Our Sponsors

White Plains Beautification Foundation, along with city and county officials, celebrated our Adopt-a-Park sponsors at the annual Appreciation Breakfast held May 12 at Bloomingdale’s La Provence Restaurant. Guests were treated to a delightful buffet of eggs, muffins, fruit and Bloomingdale’s signature frozen yogurt, and each received a packet of beautiful botanical notecards designed by WPBF Associate Rose James as a token of our gratitude.

Garden Tip of the Month

June & Bugs

Control mosquitoes by removing standing water. These include birdbaths, saucers under flower pots, drain pipes, and even playground equipment where standing water can remain in place for more than a few days.

If mosquitoes are a problem, incorporate plants that naturally repel them such as scented geranium, lemon balm southernwood, catnip, nicotiana, marigold, lemon thyme, peppermint, and lavender.

To protect bees and other beneficial insects from harm, avoid using pesticides.
