February 2022 Something to do on a Winter's Day This is the time of year that gardens rest and flowers hide from view. That does not mean there is nothing to do. You can spend some time on these cold, indoor days watching "This Blooming City," White Plains Beautification Foundation's production on local public access TV. |
|
This Blooming City hostess Marie Silverman Marich interviewed John Vorperian, past-president of White Plains Historical Society, on a program marking the anniversary of the Battle of White Plains. You can view the program via this link directly to White Plains Community Media by clicking here: This Blooming City - Interview with John Vorparian |

You will find the entire library of This Blooming City episodes on the WPBF website, wpbf.org, enough to keep yourself occupied on a cold winter's day. |

As a reminder that the seasons rotate through their cycle, and spring will warm us again, here is a photo of "The Basket," perhaps WPBF's most iconic garden, in full bloom. |

Want a Fun Activity? Become a Garden Watcher You can help WPBF and have a great time! Our sponsored gardens are monitored throughout the growing season. We need you to visit a few of our gardens once each season and report what you see - from broken signs to unwanted trash - at the site. You will be assigned gardens near where you live or work. This is a great way to become involved with White Plains Beautification Foundation and help the volunteer effort to beautify our city. Your photography skills can also aid in the effort to document the displays. Let us know you want to help by sending an email to wpbf.org. |
