Tour Percy Grainger's Home WPBF donated 500 "Fortune" daffodil bulbs to The Percy Grainger Home and Studio in the fall and they are about to burst into bloom. Their appearance will coincide with the open house tours to take place on April 4 (Easter) and April 11. Come see the daffodils in bloom, and tour the house. Tours will take place every hour at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm on both Sundays. Visit the website for more information on Grainger, his work and the tours. https://percygraingeramerica.org/ In 2020, the locally produced cable-access show, This Blooming City, celebrated its 30th birthday. The musical themes have mostly been compositions by Grainger (1882-1961), the renowned composer who lived in White Plains. His most famous work, "Country Gardens" has been the opening and closing theme of the This Blooming City for several years. |

The house remains largely furnished as it was during Grainger's lifetime. The music room contains his pianos and his exercise bar is still tied to the columns adjacent to the living room. In addition to a music arranger, Grainger was a composer, pianist, watercolorist, essayist, polyglot and clothing designer. |

Plants To Go Look for WPBF at the White Plains Farmer's Market on May 19. Pollinators of White Plains will be offering a small selection of native plant plugs for free or your donation amount of choice. You will receive instructions on how to plant and maintain them in your White Plains sun or shade garden. As a supporter of the regional Pollinator Pathway project, WPBF wants to see swaths of native plants throughout our City to welcome bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators. |
|
Butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) is one of the plant plugs that will be available to a good home. Come visit the WPBF booth at White Plains Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. |
